What is BOI?

BOI (Beneficial Ownership Information) Filing is a new requirement for certain businesses to report information about their beneficial owners. A beneficial owner is anyone who owns or controls at least 25% of a company or has significant influence over its operations.


Per federal requirement, unless you fall within an excluded company (most banks, investment or insurance companies), ALL entities are required to file Beneficial Ownership Information Report

When to File?

Due Date January 1st, 2025 (otherwise $500 daily fine per entity)

Why is the Government Requiring BOI Filing?

The U.S. government has introduced BOI filing to increase transparency and combat financial crimes like money laundering and fraud. By knowing who really owns and controls companies, authorities can better prevent illegal activities and ensure a fairer business environment.
